O3bThales Alenia Space will build a further 8 O3b satellites, to join the 12 operational satellites currently in orbit, to expand the O3b constellation which has been fully operational since September 2014.

These eight new generation satellites,  featuring increased performance and new capabilities, will be launched and integrated into the existing constellation beginning in early 2018.

Each O3b satellite hosts large numbers of TRAK Microwave K and Ka-Band coaxial and waveguide isolators and circulators designed for a variety of filter, LNA and related payload applications.

The O3b network supplies trunking and mobile backhaul connectivity to telecom operators at speeds comparable to those offered by fiber providers as well as enterprise and government services in some of the hardest to reach places on the planet. Positioned at an altitude of 8,000 km, four times closer to the earth than geo-stationary satellites, these Ka-band satellites offer high speed, low cost, low-latency Internet and telecommunications services to populations and businesses in emerging markets.
